Report: Unbeaten Dorset Tour 2017

Adnan Mohammed at Warnford

Jesters 319-6 (S Zaib 128, McNamara 54*)

Hampshire Hogs 266 all out (Mohammed 3-95)

Jesters won by 53 runs

Yet another Saj Zaib century against the Hogs was the cornerstone of a winning start to the tour at Warnford. Saj's 77 ball knock, which included 21 boundaries, followed a solid opening partnership of 58 between Joe Phelan and Paul Woolf. Highgate's resident Aussie Shane McNamara's late hitting lifted us to 319 (off 39 overs), our third score of 300+ in a row. In reply, the Hogs openers also put on fifty for the first wicket, but wickets fell at regular intervals to Adnan Mohammed (3-95), Simon Rawson (2-19) and Aashi Zaib (3-100), resulting in a comfortable 53 run victory in the 57th over.

Bryanston Butterflies 225-5 (Mumby 2-44)

Jesters 216-9 (McNamara 96*)

Match drawn

Certain defeat was almost transformed into an unlikely victory as we recovered from 78-6 to finish nine runs short and nine wickets down against the Butterflies at Bryanston School. The home side posted 225-5 off 60 overs with two wickets apiece for McNamara (2-53) and Nick Mumby (2-44). 78-6 would become 126-8 but the batting revival was led by wicket-takers McNamara and Mumby, who put on 52 for the ninth wicket. When Nick was dismissed for 25, we still needed another 47 runs. The boundaries continued to flow from Shane's bat (96*) but he and skipper Simon Rawson had to settle for the draw in the 60th and final over of the innings.

Jesters 156-6 (20 overs)

Match abandoned

Due to the rain that swept across the country on the final day of tour, the match was reduced to a Twenty20 contest, but there was only time for The Jesters innings before heavy showers forced an abandoment. Our 156-6 was built around Aashi Zaib's 42 and a pair of 28s from Ponniah Vijendran and Matthew Berry, the latter promoted to the unfamiliar position of number three and treating onlookers to his full array of T20 trick shots. A more conventional stroke has been captured below...
