Doward run out for 99 in thumping Woozlers win
Jesters 193-7 dec (Doward 99)
The Woozlers 89 all out (Pandey 3-30)
Won by 104 runs
The highlight of a stirring recovery at Girton College against the Woozlers was a classic Jesters calamity for the ages. Skipper Ollie Doward, who had led a comeback from 53-5, was run out for 99 (see video below as Ollie brings up his half-century). And the fielder who swooped to land the ruthless blow was our very own DJ Chak, on as a sub! You couldn't script it. Ollie put on exactly 100 with James Whittock (19), hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes, a knock that enabled us to declare on 193-7 in the 42nd over.
The Woozlers never really got their teeth into the chase... their top order looked comfortable but got themselves out, with offie Mohit Pandey bowling a controlled spell with the new ball, sending down 11 uninterrupted overs for 3-30. DJ Chak (2-16) and Andrew Short (consecutive wicket maidens for a 2-0) turned the screw to wrap up a big win in the last hour, leaving the classy Blue Ed Hyde high and dry. Just as well, as he looked very dangerous..
Thanks to Woozlers skipper Sam Grimshaw, former Jester and Jesuan, for organising the day. A great new fixture!
