Two debutants star in Chobham victory

Jesters CC 164-8 (Bizayi 40, Jones 30)

Chobham 107 all out

Won by 57 runs

Given the recent heavy rain, Chobham won the toss and put us in to bat (we would have bowled, too). Starting out as a 40-game, the overs were reduced to 35 following a rain delay half an hour into our innings.

The top four got starts without going on, and we were 59-4 after 14 overs; new recruit Rob Jones scored an elegant 30 batting at 3. The main innings of note was Tee Bizayi’s 46-ball 40, which included a six that broke tiles on the pavilion roof. With Tee caught at deep midwicket, the score was 130-7 with 6 and a bit overs remaining.

Tom Bell and Dan Hayes put on an undefeated 34 for the eighth wicket to take us up to 164-8. An excellent all-round team effort in the field secured a very satisfying victory. The wickets were shared among the six bowlers, five of whom went for under three an over, and the fielding was high quality. As is usual at our Chobham fixture, it was a fantastic game of Sunday cricket played in a lovely setting.

Jesters XI: Bell (c), Harrison, Murphy, R Jones (wk), Wilkinson, Mayur, Bizayi, Balfour, Gautam, Hayes, Berman
