Hillyard masters golf course & Mohammed
It was a bank holiday weekend of sporting triumph for Noah Hillyard, who shot 84 (12 over par) to take the individual plaudits on Jesters Golf Day at a sweltering Surrey National.
And the very next day, Noah found himself opening the bowling to fellow Jester Adnan Mohammed for Hampstead against Cryptics CC. The contest did not last long as Adnan's remodelled technique was well and truly dismantled. Happily, the agricultural dismissal was captured on camera...
What happened next? Adnan Mohammed faces Noah Hillyard
Back at Surrey National GC, Noah also sneaked his stableford contest with Karim Sutton. The latter raced into an early lead with four pars in five holes but disintegrated in the face of the Hillyard charge. With the scores level going down the 18th, Karim drove out of bounds to gift Noah the win.
The matchplay contest between Bridcut & Doward and Harris & Jefferies was an equally absorbing affair. Legendary pairing Bridcut & Doward, unbeaten in 14 contests between 2011 and 2014, started abysmally to fall four down at the turn. However, some magical play on the back nine meant that the match was all square going down the last. Despite also driving way out of bounds, Harris controversially took his penalty drop from the edge of the fairway and arrowed a 7 iron to ten feet.
Doward cracked under pressure and dumped his approach into the water but Bridcut's six foot putt to halve the match - and claim the moral victory - circled the hole before dropping.
Nick Mumby once again failed to feature in the final reckoning.
Many thanks to Jonny for organising a great day.
