The scorching summer of 2025 ended on a dampener as injury hit Jesters were forced to take the Green at Kew with 10 players. Rain was promised at 3pm, and arrived earlier than that. The hosts wisely suggested a T20 game with refreshments after.

Kew won the toss and batted. Skipper Rob Harrison decided to rotate the bowlers in largely one over spells, with the two Sams, Butler and Sud getting a bit of tap from the young Kew openers. Experienced Dan ‘Purple’ Hayes and John ‘The Undertaker’ Newton fared better in the long bowling line up. James Standley used the damp conditions well in his spell. Captain Harrison indulged himself and took a couple of late wickets. Kew got to 166 from their twenty.

Ross Legg and Sam Sud both contributed in reply. Unfortunately, due to a mix up they were unable to do this simultaneously. Sam decided to stay out there for a bit, with Sarbajeet Nag, and for a moment it looked like Jesters might be on the chase. Alas, it was too many to get as the rain fell heavily. At one stage Shorbs and Harrison, looking for two, both slipped at their respective ends. Kew offered to go off, but with no obvious risk to the fielders, just trainer-clad batsman - the innings was completed with 112-7 in reply.

Beers and sandwiches were taken in the delightful clubhouse. As ever, a very nice fixture to end the season.
